China science, technology news summary -- June 30

BEIJING, June 30 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

MARS PROBE

The orbiter and rover of China's Tianwen-1 probe have both completed the targeted scientific exploration missions, announced the China National Space Administration (CNSA) on Wednesday.

As of Wednesday, the orbiter of Tianwen-1 has been operating normally for 706 days. It has acquired the medium-resolution image data covering the whole globe of Mars, with all of its scientific payloads realizing global survey, said the CNSA.

SCI-TECH ACHIEVEMENT COMMERCIALIZATION

An annual report on the commercialization of China's scientific and technological achievements was published on Wednesday, showing that it continues to flourish across the country.

The report, published in an edition of colleges and research institutes, noted that 466,882 sci-tech commercialization contracts were signed at 3,554 colleges and universities nationwide in 2020, with a total value of 125.61 billion yuan (about 18.7 billion U.S. dollars).

SHENZHOU-13 ASTRONAUTS

The three astronauts of China's Shenzhou-13 crewed mission met the press and public, the first such appearance after returning to Earth in April.

At the press conference held in Beijing, Jing Haipeng, head of the Astronaut Corps, described the Shenzhou-13 crew's recovery and follow-up plans.
